Iranian Miniature Painting
Iranian miniatures (fine and small drawings) came to life after the fall of Baghdad (1285 AD). Since the beginning of the 14th century, handwritten books were adorned and illustrated by the scenes from battle fields, feasts and hunting. Influenced by Chinese designs and coloring, this style of painting had a flourishing period until 17th century when Iranian artists became familiar with and attracted to western paintings. However, it has never ceased to attract artists who try to bring new concepts and designs to miniature painting.
